"I qualified as a Registered Nurse back in 1979 at Burton Hospital. It was my lifelong dream to be a nurse after a decision I made at 4 years old. After I qualified, I worked as a staff nurse at Geoffrey Hodges Wing in Burton which specialised in elderly care. I then went on to qualify as a midwife .I had my first son in 1982 and became a stay at home Mum for 5 years before starting work at Cedar Court, which was then known as Bretby Nursing Home, in 1987.I initially worked part time as a nurse then increased to full time. I had my second son in 1996 and returned to work at Cedar Court when he was six weeks old. I took on the General Nursing Manager position in the year 2000 and continue in this role until the present day. I am approaching 33 years' service, which will be in November. My life's dream has been realised over these years and I hope to be able to continue to care for the very special people that chose to live here."

Welcome to my very special team. Here are just a few of the people who make a difference to the lives of the people in our care. We are proud of each and every one of them. All have committed themselves to the training that enables them to deliver a high standard of person-centred care, and are dedicated to what they achieve.
Despite challenges that occur in our lives from time to time they commit themselves, adapt to what they face and move forwards. We are all here for each other and the people we care for.
